ARTISTS SERIES BY CHAMPION

ARTISTS SERIES BY CHAMPION LAUNCHES AT THEIR FLAGSHIP PREMIUM LONDON STORE

Champion will unveil their latest product collaboration - with three acclaimed graphic artists: Jean Jullien, Jody Barton and Yu Nagaba – on 1 December 2017 at its London Brewer Street store.

Limited to just 100 pieces per style, each of the exclusive Artists Series by Champion designs reflects Champion’s ongoing exploration of what happens when the authenticity of one of the most influential athleticwear brands meets cult graphic design and illustration. The results speak for themselves.

Taking the Champion “C” brand icon as a focal point, Jean Jullien, Jody Barton and Yu Nagaba have injected their signature illustrative styles to create a limited edition of T-shirts showcasing the brand’s ongoing commitment to partnering with some of the world’s most exciting design talent. It is a celebration of authenticity, playful creativity, style and newness, everything you’d expect from Champion; a brand that has inspired athletes and active people on and off the field for almost 100 years.

Chris Haggarty, Managing Director of Champion Products Europe Limited says: “Soho has been the authentic heart of London for creativity and experimentation for well over a century, so the launch of our Artists Series limited edition T-shirt collection, from our London flagship allows us to showcase the integrity and heritage of Champion® whilst putting a spotlight on graphic artists who embody what is now and what’s next. Jean Jullien, Jody Barton and Yu Nagaba epitomise that spirit and we’re proud to be working with them on the Artists Series by Champion®.

Jean Jullien is a French graphic artist currently living in London. He comes from Nantes and did a graphic design degree in Quimper before coming to London. He graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2008 and from the Royal College of Art in 2010. He works closely with the musician The Coward. His practice ranges from illustration to photography, video, costumes, installations, books, posters and clothing to create a coherent yet eclectic body of work. His clients include: The New Yorker, Tate, Channel 4, Le Centre Pompidou, It's Nice That,

BMW, Renault and The Big Chill.

A deep and passionate love of drawing and the history of graphic arts combined with an allergy to repeating himself gives Jody Barton’s graphic expressions a freshness which goes beyond trends and fashions and emulates classic breakthroughs. Working by hand gives his work a depth and craft which many contempories fail to match. Currently living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jody’s clients include: Hay, Stussy, Apartamento Magazine, Medicom, Fabrik, Frame Denim, European Cycle Messenger Championship and Andreas Wellnitz Design Studio.
